The 25-year-old, who sang his way on to “Idol’s season 10 with his audition-winning rendition of the classic “I heard It Through the Grapevine,” allegedly first approached Fletcher Carroll and Heather Creary on Saturday in the parking lot of a Best Buys store to inform them about some computers he had for sale.  The pair reportedly told Wheeler that they wanted to compare computer prices and asked for his number.  When the couple drove to Target, they called Wheeler and asked him to meet them at the store’s parking lot.

When Wheeler met Carroll and Creary at the Target location, he allegedly walked them over to a van where he showed them two large FedEx boxes, and when the couple tried to inspect the items further, the suspect reportedly lifted his shirt and flashed a gun.  He then allegedly demanded that the couple hand over their money to him.

Carroll and Creary told Daytona Beach police that Wheeler fled with $750 of their money.

According to investigators, the Target robbery could also be linked to another computer scam theft that occurred hours earlier on the same day but in the parking lot at a Sav-A-Lot store.

Felicia Bunker was reportedly robbed by suspect Torrance Canady who told her that he needed money to get home and had a computer for sale in his car.  Police investigators said that Bunker got in to Canady’s vehicle and was shown the same large FedEx box.  The woman gave Canady $400 without even opening the box to check its contents. When Bunker got home and opened the box, she discovered some glass encased in a black frame that was wrapped in plastic.

Police did manage to catch up with Canady later that afternoon, when they spotted him riding in the car that Bunker described to them. Upon searching Canady’s vehicle, police stumbled upon the same type of scam merchandise that Bunker had uncovered when she opened the large box.

Meanwhile Wheeler, who also goes by the name of “Skii Bo Skii”  and reportedly hasn’t given up on his singing career, has a lengthy arrest record. The young wannabe crooner has been reportedly cuffed 25 times since age 11 on mostly theft charges.

Police are still investigating leads as to Wheeler’s whereabouts and his possible connection to the Canady case.
