obama-interview

From HuffingtonPost.com:

Two days before President Obama’s State of the Union speech, the president sat down with ABC’s Diane Sawyer for a lengthy and ranging conversation on health care, the economy, and whether “one term is enough.”

“I’d rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president,” Obama told Sawyer.

“There’s a tendency in Washington to think that our job description, of elected officials, is to get reelected. That’s not our job description,” Obama said. “Our job description is to solve problems and to help people.”

I am a huge fan of Obama the writer but not so much of Obama the President. I am a woman of color and was ecstatic when he got elected…heck my husband got married on the same day to make the historical event, but right now I am not pleased with what he has done so far. Besides backsliding on the promises he made on his campaign trail all he seems to be doing right now is continuing to campaign. He has the job now it is time to sit down and get to work. It seems as though every time he opens his mouth he puts his foot in it and has to backtrack to correct what he said. Some times it is just best to be quiet and watch the other people and prepare for your next step. We can all sit here and say that he is being set up to fail…but I don’t personally believe that…I believe that he is setting his self up for failure.

I’m sure he doesn’t want to be in charge of this backwards country, any longer! Try to make change to a crack-riddled sidewalk, and you’ll reveal all the problems that destroyed the foundation in the first place, when you lift the gravel. No one wants Obama to do anything because it peels back all the corruption that has been in place for hundreds of years. Basically, America is run on scams by big-business, and every change he wants to make hurts them directly. Any benefit to the people means short-changing the companies, and the people surrounding him are paid off by big business. He definitely needs to point this out, get it off his chest, when it’s time to exit office. People purposely are trying to shut his every move down, and most of the country supports opposing everything he suggests, yet offer no solution themselves.

I would have to disagree with you there. Obama inherited a mess! He inherited unpopular wars, hateful terrorist groups, an unfair health care plan, and a bad economy. When Bush wanted an unjustifiable war in Iraq, he got it with no problem. Every decision that Bush made, that later stun us in the butt–he got the go ahead with hardly any opposition. Flash forward to Obama, who is trying to help a domestic issue, such as health care–something that really benefits US–but it gets HEAVY opposition. Obama can’t help it that he’s president to a country and a government that is very backwards and has priorities in the wrong places. Nonetheless, Obama honorably took the Presidency knowing what he is up against and a good President can overcome such issues. Franklin Deleanor Roosevelt didn’t help to bring the country out of depression overnight or within a year. I say give Obama more time.

What the hell are you talking about. The man is saying he would be content with getting s**t done, and not being re-elected, than to be elected twice and not do a damn thing!!! The s**t ain’t rocket science people.

The man has been president a year and people are already calling his presidency a failure. I’m starting to believe that the majority of people that got mad at Rush Limbaugh for the “Barack The Magic Negro” song was ACTUALLY EXPECTING HIM TO BE A MAGIC NEGRO. Go figure.

[...] 12. Speaking of President Obama, How did it make you feel when he said, “I’d rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president.” That was great! Of course some folks will eat that up but haven’t we already lived through a president who got a second chance at president when he should have been axed? [Source] [...]

I totally agree that he inherited a mess but in my opinion he is allowing that inheritance to stagnate him….that is all I am saying.
I think there are very few people who truly believed that he was going to get into office and make everything better immediately.
I hope he does turn things around and get re-elected…like I said I like him as a person….heck I admire him.

The problems he inherited are not stagnating him. It’s actually the rest of the governing body that is stagnating him. He can’t get nothing done because Republicans are standing tight to reject his every move, no matter how well off it may be for the country. Of course a good President knows how to bring both sides together for an agreement, but this is just ridiculous stubbornness by the Republicans.

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/_A_/ _A_

This silly talk about Republican stubbornness is way off base. Don’t Republican Presidents receive the same stonewalling from Democrats when they are in power? That goes with the territory. The problem with Obama is that he is becoming a shameless politician, no better or worse than his predecessors. His latest duplicitous move. After railing against CEO bonuses a few months back, calling them outrageous, and even creating a “PAY CZAR” to reign it in (and fooling you negroes into thinking he was doing something about it) he NOW states that he doesn’t begrudge the huge bonuses that Jamie Dimon (JP Morgan CEO) and Lloyd Blankfein (GOLDMAN SACHS CEO) received, and stated that he is not against hard work, and success because that is part of the free market system. This statement is laughable on so many levels, but mainly, there is NO free market system in the US right now, and hell, hasn’t been for centuries, and secondly, these men were able to obtain these bonuses from tax payer funded bailouts, lying, exploitation and casino style investing, NOT HARD WORK!!! Obama is showing who he truly is (like most of us knew he would eventually)just another bought and paid for President, like all the rest

    WAKE UP!!!!!

President Obama is doing an excellent job, if he runs for office again, he has my vote. And to those of you who don’t like how the legal system is ran or how the government officials abuse there positions, then get off your AZz and occupy more seats in the state and government offices. While most would like to pretend President Obama has done nothing, there has been improvement in the stock market, more sales of homes and more jobs slowly but improving. Obama is the right man for the job and once all the racist smoke clears, he will still be the president for four more years.
