A few years ago, I lived in an apartment complex where my downstairs neighbor had twins. One was black and the other one was mixed. One day she had sex with a black guy and a white guy within hours of each other. both of the men got her pregnant at the same time. The paternity results showed that the twins have two differnt fathers. so that is possible.

I wonder if some of you read the article or just assumed it was the mixed couple who had a white and a black baby. The two are Nigerians with no history of white ancestry. I’m not surprised by this. A DNA test is in order, but keep in mind that no race is pure. They may no know of any European ancestry in their respective gene pools, but that doesn’t mean that neither of them have European ancestors. Interesting story, but someone might have some explaining to do.

i have a cousin that had the same situation …..that kid is an albino. it rare but happens . He’s a black kid with less pigment . Wesley Snpes and Grace Jones could have the same situation. It happens. The kid is going to have some health issue ,so they need to focus on that first.

@mrbluesays, Blond hair and blue eyes in a pigmented human require the appropriate genes to be expressed in both parents. Blue and blond are recessive. Even if she had sex with an Icelandic man, with blond hair and blue eyes, the child wouldn’t have those features because the mother doesn’t carry the required genes. Eye color can be one of the best ways to test paternity. If the father has brown eyes and the mother has blue, and the baby has blue, then the milkman’s the daddy. I’m more inclined to believe that the baby is albino. However, skin color is just an issue of pigmentation – early humans had to diverge into white populations somehow – and an allele change can provide that necessary divergence. So, it’s not impossible for the child to be white. It’s just very highly unlikely.

It might be albino, might be genes from unknown ancestors way back. Extremely rare. You will only be able to tell with a genetics test and it will also be interesting to see when the baby grows older. If the baby can tan and has no vision problems, she isn’t an albino. Albinism always has vision problems attached to it and not just light skin but skin completely devoid of melanin producing capacity. Albinism wouldn’t explain the almost straight waivy har. But then again, I’d want to see the baby a few months from now to see how the hair has developed. Almost all babies are born with dark bluish eyes that go to permanent color later.

I swear ignorance is often times power….try using PUNNETT SQUARES….recessive genes always have a chance of appearing and if the baby is by her husband he also carries the gene its a 25% chance… but 9 times out 10 if this article is being posted a DNA test was probably done…

The film strip has one person’s hertiage inaccurate. Soledad’s mom is black and her dad is white.

My oldest son was born with blue eyes and I couldn’t tell him apart from the other white babies at that time I had to look at my bracelet to make sure it matched his. His eyes finally turned brown after 6mos. I still say this baby is albino eventhough it was ruled out but there are two types of albinism and I don’t think the doctor who ruled it out even considered the other type. This baby’s skin looks kind of yellow and so does the blonde hair I’ve seen a picture of the family on Sun Magazine when this article was posted on Monday and he is the father the baby has alot of his features. I guess in Nigeria this is big news to be posted but this is not a surprise to me. This has happened before and the child was classified as albino.

Once you DNA is contaminated by European DNA there there is no going back. It will forever be altered. That means no matter how far you go back, if there is anyone in your genetic ancestry that is not a direct descendant then neither are you. There are very very few “genetic” direct descendants of Adam left in the world. Most Africans, and African Americans no longer carry the pure DNA of Adam. Its just a fact. Two Nigerians giving birth to a white baby proves this fact. However by definition having Black parents makes this baby Black. Even though she has some White features. Basically anything is possible. It is possible for a White couple (woman) to give birth to a child with black features. It happens all the time if you look close enough. They don’t always have the dark skin, but look at the nose, lips, hair, and cheek bones of some whites and see for yourself.

The baby seems to have a genetic mutation that caused her to lack pigmentation. Not Albino, per say, but likely something very close to vitaligo or similar. Either way, isn’t it AMAZING how accepting our people are. I hate to say it but I’d be willing to bet that farm that if a white couple gave birth to a Black child, they wouldn’t be exuding as much excitement and acceptance as this beautiful couple. It is usually impossible for a woman to become pregnant by two men and one egg but very possible if more than one egg is released during and ovulating period…..

It is possible that as we have evolved (Genetically, it’s been illustrated on numerous occasions that many still lack maturation evolution) as humans, so also have our mutations and therefore could explain the altered appearance of the child as an albino, but then again Black people being the first here on this planet had to have some gene in them that became more prominent as time moved on and evolution caused those traits to become more articulated in regards to geographic location.

Some layman teaching…

Read up on plate tectonics and how the continents of this planet were once one large piece of land. Read up on gene mutation for the purpose of adaptation (theory of evolution).

Human origin began in Africa–although some people migrated to other parts of the land and multiplied there.

Over time, the large piece of land began to split forming the continents–plate tectonics(much like how eventually California will split from the United States…lol). Those that left Africa ended up on continents where it may not have been as hot (no need for melanin in the skin to protect from harsh sunlight), some people ended up on continents that were extremely cold (need alot more hair–that grows extremely fast). Over time, the human genes within those that moved away from Africa made these adaptations to allow the generations of people born in those areas to be able to survive (Darwinism–theory of evolution). All of the genes that adapted (mutated) were orginally genes of Africa heritage.

Somoe on here made a very good analogy of how it is possible to create white flour from brown flour, but that it is not possible to do the reverse. A white couple (with all of those recessive genes–mutated genes, will never be able to make a black child because there is not enough of the dominant, strong black genes within them to do so. However–as the world is witness to–a black couple can produce a white child if there are enough of the recessive genes that dictate those features that are viewed as “white” in our society match up as the fetus develops (two recessive genes can display a dominant trait).

So…
If you paid attention in biology or any natural science, this phenomena of a “black” couple having a “white” baby would not seem so impossible. It is very possible.

The child is African American and thus has slight color of the eyes, hair, and palms of the hand. The hair would be blond as is the child and the eyes hazel or blue as is this child.
