President Barack Obama’s re-election fundraiser is a sold-out event that is being held in Studio City, Calif., on Thursday.  The gala is a who’s-who list of Hollywood’s glitterati that will take place at actor George Clooney’s nearly 8,000-square-foot mansion, reports the New York Daily News.

There are at least 150 invitees, from A-list actors to studio heads to power industry players, in addition to the President’s entourage.  There is speculation that the glitzy shindig is expected to raise at least $12 million, which would set a record for a presidential fundraiser.  The demand for tickets was so huge that the guest list was limited only to the residents of Southern California.

Although attendees paid a mere $40,000 a head, Washington watch analysts believe that online donations could bring in at least $6 million.  Proceeds from the Wolfgang Puck-catered affair will be going to the Obama Victory fund, a joint fund-raising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee, and several state Democratic parties.

There are a few Hollywood celebs who have dropped off the Obama train over the years, but reportedly, the president still has many supporters in Tinsel Town and Clooney is one of his biggest.  The Academy Award-winning actor has never been one to shy away from politics and has been outspoken in his obvious support for Obama, stating that he is ”proud to do whatever I can to support the President…as long as no one asks me to sing,” reports the New York Daily News.

Meanwhile, Obama is being attacked by the Republicans for being a “Hollywood President,” according to the New York Daily News.  A new ad released by American Crossroads, backers of the GOP, shows Obama’s appearances on Jimmy Fallon and Ellen DeGeneres during his first presidential election.  The narrator asks, “Four years ago, Americans elected the biggest celebrity in the world. And America got one cool President.” He then states, “After four years of a celebrity president, is your life any better?”
