A five-page letter from the Finance Committee obtained by LALATE NEWS indicates that in 2007 the Senate demanded that New Birth provide proof that Bishop Eddie Long wasn’t using New Birth Missionary Baptist Church funds for personal use.
Four lawsuits filed last week asserted that Bishop Eddie Long allegedly diverted funds from New Birth Missionary Baptist Church (“New Birth”) for personal use with the four men for years dating back to 2007; the same time as the government audit.
The lawsuits claim Long allegedly took funds of his church to fly the teen boys around the globe and lavish them with gifts; with those gifts, the suits claim, Long allegedly coerced the boys into relations.

The date of that demand letter was November 5, 2007, exactly the same time in which plaintiffs suits claim Long’s alleged conduct was occurring.
