Zoe Reardon is another example of the epitome of white privilege. After killing three people, including a three-month-old baby, she will only be on probation for 36 months.

The 18-year-old entered into a plea deal on Monday to avoid any jail time for possibly texting while driving her Jeep in Woodstock, Georgia, before she hit three people and killing them all in 2017, WSB-TV in Atlanta reported.
“You’re pretty young,” Cherokee County State Court Judge Alan Jordan said to Reardon sympathetically. “You’ve got a lifetime ahead of you. I expect this is something you’re going to have a hard time dealing with the rest of your life.”
Reardon killed Kathy Deming, Kaitlin Hunt and Hunt’s 3-month-old daughter, Riley. They were walking to a concert at the Woodstock amphitheater.
“Riley died the night of the collision. Deming died 10 days later. Kaitlin Hunt was taken off life support a few days after the crash, surgeons having taken measures to follow her wishes as an organ donor,” the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.

Reardon’s defense? Reportedly, she claimed the family just “walked right in front” of the car. However, she sent a text message to her father just moments before the crash, which Reardon’s team argued did not distract her. Her attorney Manny Auroa even said, “Sometimes an accident is just an accident and you don’t need to try and force blame on somebody.”
Reardon, a first-time offender, was expected to get her license back after fulfilling the terms of her probation.
Reardon, who turns 19 on Tuesday, told the family, “I regret this is the first time you’ve ever heard from me. I’ve often wanted to reach out. I can’t imagine how much pain you’re experiencing. For all your heartbreak and loss, I am truly sorry.”
The family of the victims spoke out for the first time Monday. Mike Deming, Kathy Deming’s husband, stated, “It’s ridiculous to say they walked out in front of you. That didn’t happen, and you know it didn’t happen.” He also said, “Where is the accountability? We have to live with this for the rest of our lives. You don’t.”
Social media has been outraged been the weak sentencing, especially considering the fact that there are nonviolent offenders like Crystal Mason in Texas who are locked up for years through no fault of their own. Ironically, Reardon while be doing her probation in Texas, while she is in college.
