Things got heated between former NFL player Terrell Owens and an overzealous fan who reportedly called him the N-word during a physical altercation in a California Starbucks on Tuesday.
Owens and a friend were in a Brentwood, Calif. Starbucks when they came into contact with a fan named Arman, TMZ reports. The fan allegedly screamed the athlete’s name, and when Owens asked him to calm down, he called him a “b***h a** n*****.” The player then threw his cup of coffee towards Arman.
The fan was caught on TMZ’s video telling T.O. he was prepared to get a lawyer, so he could “come up and take care of his family.”
The football player spoke to TMZ Live to share his part of the story. Owens said the fan taunted his female friend and called him a “b***h a** n*****” and a “”f***ing knuckle-running, spear-chucking, monkey-ass looking motherf*****.”
TMZ Live reports:
He says the situation was even more bizarre and menacing. He tells us the guy was following him and a female friend around the store, then followed them to their car … and threw a cup of liquid INTO the car.
Terrell says that’s when he got out and threw his empty cup at the guy. He confirms he absolutely heard him use the n-word.
The fan denied he was racist for saying the N-word.
“I use that word and it’s very much accepted in the black community,” Arman said. “I was purposely racist. I just wanted to make him mad and sad. I’m Middle Eastern and Muslim and not KKK. There’s freedom of speech but there’s not freedom of attack. He kicked me in the Starbucks. I don’t want my name to be ruined with all my African-American friends because that’s as racist as it gets.”
Police are investigating.
