In Sprint wireless company’s latest controversial ad, CEO Marcelo Claure enjoys a fancy lunch with a bunch of people. Before the ad rolls, there’s a quick disclaimer that reads, “Real questions. Honest answers. Actual Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon & AT&T customers. No actors.”

That’s when everything goes down hill.

Claure asked the room what they think when they hear the word “T-Mobile.”

The White woman next to him says, “Oh my God, the first word that came to my head was ‘ghetto,’ That sounds like, terrible.”

The table erupts into laughter and Claure appears to nod his head. As if the video wasn’t bad enough, the CEO tweeted out the YouTube link with a caption that read in part, “Sometimes the truth hurts.”

Hours later, Claure realized his mistake condoning the racist word, pulled the ad and tweeted an apology:

The good news is that the company pulled the ad, but now begins the hard work of disassembling the behavior that allowed workers to sign off on the ad in the first place.
